I posted this over at our Electric Moon Project: Embracing the Goddess, at Earth First Dreaming School.

I had this dream earlier last spring, and I am reposting it, since its perfect for this moon’s active dreaming project. And my new comments will be what I’ve learned, or pieced together since then.

The Book of Mother dream
I am attending a lecture. There is a long board with posters, kinda like Dr. Jose Arguelless time-line of the katuns synched up with world history.
A woman starts reciting a poem about time which is deeply emotive and moving: Between each ticking of the clock
Long centuries pass
In universes hidden from our own.
Im excited and I ask the other woman giving the lecture on Art and Creativity, who is that poem by.
She says Riane Eisler from her book The Book of Mother.
I ask what the title is and I wake up. EOD.
Comments: on The Book of Mother
In our unbalanced society, our culture of duality, there is a split between Nature and Culture. (this could stem from our own brain hemisphere split?)
When Pope Nicholas V began his Doctrine of Discovery (1452), the commonwealth and land ownership was going through a major transformation. No longer could the commoner fish, hunt, plant, grow on the commonwealth of the King, Prince, Duke, or Baron.
Pope Nicholas began a seize for power, as the Church grabbed up the sacred spaces of the Pagans, Druids and Wicca to build their majestic stone churches, Nicholas gave explorers the power to claim any newly discovered lands for the Catholic Church. This was right at the beginning of the Scientific Revolution.
Then around 1582 Pope Gregory XIII had his committee create the mechanical Gregorian Calendar, to usurp the old Roman Julian calendar (this would only occur in Spanish countries, and take about 400 years to spread globally). Gregory must have known about the Mayan Tzolkin, since his Bishop Diego de Landa was in the new world burning Mayan codexes, and of course the Druid, Pagan and Wicca 13 moon, 28 days calendars of natural time. This was the time of the witch-burnings because the patriarchy had to make Nature evil, dangerous, a seductive temptress (a reflection of this unbalanced world view of women). Boys grew up never knowing this mother-craft of self-nurturing. It was structured in this new culture that the boy leave his mother, stop cleaving to mommy and stand up for himself and master his environment, to even conquer and have power over others. If a warrior, or man would sink because of the weight and stress of life, couldnt stand up to others, then he was seen as weak. The female has always had the connection to self-nurturing, nature/nurture.
With the sacrifice of women, burning witches at the stake, the Patriarchy was attempting to blot out the 13 moon 28 day lunar calendar. This Patriarchal Warrior culture worshipped death, war, and control. They kept invoking their power of control over others, mastery, and slave making imperialism. This was their brand of magic. With their new mechanical calendar and usurping of Pagan Holy days as their own Christian holidays, the Church created a mind-set that has hypnotized the world for about 500 years.
Black time, mechanical 12:60 false time escalates and encapsulates this illusion of power over the universe, nature and the world, and this slant on mastery, initiation, power and magic was bound to lead to chaos and aggression, which it has succeeded in doing all too easy. The terrorist is always seen as the other, the one out there. We never take the time to face the terror, the enemy within, to be at peace with sides of life, the matriarchy and the patriarchy.
In the Reclaiming Tradition we seek the Goddess, she is real. She isnt just an archetype. She is in nature and her spirit is everywhere. She is the sacred never-ending circle. Her consort, the God, is the focal point, in the cycles of life, natural time, and sacred rites of the Great Wheel. And ultimately the Goddess symbolizes the sacred unity of all things on Earth. God in his many names is part of this too.
So to really go back to the Goddess, we have to transform our whole Dreaming Culture. We might even have to change the way we work and create.
AL I,51: “There are four gates to one palace; the floor of that palace is of silver and gold; lapis lazuli & jasper are there; and all rare scents; jasmine & rose, and the emblems of death. Let him enter in turn or at once the four gates; let him stand on the floor of the palace. Will he not sink? Amn. Ho! warrior, if thy servant sink? But there are means and means. Be goodly therefore: dress ye all in fine apparel; eat rich foods and drink sweet wines and wines that foam! Also, take your fill and will of love as ye will, when, where and with whom ye will! But always unto me.”
